International skilled workers

Recognition counselling of the Chamber of Employees

‘Recognition Plus’ is a free service provided by the IQ Network Bremen for people who would like to work in Germany with their foreign, recognised degree or professional qualification. Their residence status is irrelevant. The counselling service helps with questions about recognition, explains notifications and shows career prospects in Germany. Counselling is provided in German and English.

IQ Network Bremen - Integration through qualification

The IQ Network is the right place for immigrants who want to work in Bremen: from the recognition of professional or academic qualifications to individual qualification offers and (re-)entry into the job market, the IQ Network Bremen supports immigrants on their way to qualified employment.

The IQ Network Bremen also offers advice and support to companies wishing to recruit international skilled workers.

All services in the IQ support program are free of charge.

Dual Career Service

The Dual Career Service provided by Bremen Economic Development Agency helps with the professional integration of the partners of skilled workers in Bremen. Speculative job applications can be sent to a network of companies in the region from an access point provided by the partner’s company, via the Dual Career Service, to support newly arrived partners in finding a new professional direction in Bremen.

You can apply for citizen’s allowance and receive support in your job search at the Bremen Job Centre. Information on procedures and services can be found at www.jobcenter-bremen.de – also in 10 languages. Use the postcode search to find out which office is responsible. The job centre app for applications, uploads and information has been available since January 2025 (download from the App Store/Google Play).

At the Bremerhaven job centre, around 300 employees support the city’s residents in their search for employment and offer a wide range of services such as individual advice, vocational training and financial assistance. The Bremerhaven job centre is committed to integrating people into sustainable employment. Through individualised offers, opportunities for a professional future are developed in a trusting cooperation with people seeking advice and help.

F.I.T supports your entry into the IT sector – even without formal IT training or a university degree. In the free F.ITranet, you can create an anonymous profile highlighting your strengths, be found by IT companies, and reach out to suitable employers. Additional support is offered for applications, CVs, and interviews.

The State Agency for Continuing Vocational Education and Transformation (LABEW+)

LABEW+ offers a bundled range of advice from a single source that provides targeted support to companies, employees and jobseekers in Bremen and Bremerhaven. In this way, LABEW+ helps to attract, retain and develop skilled workers. Advice is provided through its three service centers: Vocational Training, Career and Family, and German at Work.

The project is funded by the Senator for Labor, Social Affairs, Youth and Integration with funds from the state and the European Social Fund Plus and is run by RKW Bremen GmbH.

wisoak supports jobseekers with practical training in the areas of management, health, social affairs, administration and digitalization. The aim is to open up new career prospects and enable entry into qualified employment. wisoak is certified and an approved provider according to AZAV.

Adult Education Center Bremen

The Bremen Adult Education Center (vhs) is a central point of contact for further vocational training in Bremen and Bremerhaven. It offers a wide range of courses for job seekers and working people, including practical courses in communication, education, IT and business. Many courses are certified and eligible for funding via education vouchers or Bildungszeit.
